HOW TO PACK YOUR PARCELS
Packing Advice from RafixTrans
At RafixTrans, we want your goods to arrive safely at their destination. Proper packing helps protect your items during collection, handling and transport.
Follow our simple packing guide before booking your delivery.
1. Choose the Right Box
Use a strong, rigid cardboard box suitable for the weight and size of your items.
- Choose a box that is not damaged or weakened.
- Use a suitable box for heavy items.
- Avoid boxes that are too large or too small.
- Do not overload the box.
2. Protect Your Items
Wrap each item carefully to reduce the risk of damage.
- Use bubble wrap or suitable protective packaging for fragile items.
- Fill empty spaces with packing paper or other suitable cushioning.
- Keep items from moving around inside the box.
- Separate fragile items so they do not knock against each other.
3. Pack Fragile Items Carefully
Glass, ceramics, electronics and other delicate items need extra protection.
- Wrap each item individually.
- Add cushioning around all sides.
- Use a strong outer box.
- Tell us about fragile items when requesting your transport quote.
Please note that labels such as “FRAGILE” do not replace proper packaging.
4. Seal Your Parcel Securely
Use strong packing tape to close the box.
- Secure all openings and seams.
- Make sure the bottom of the box is properly sealed.
- Remove old delivery labels.
- Ensure the parcel can be safely handled and transported.
5. Label Your Parcel Correctly
Clearly provide the collection and delivery details.
Where appropriate, include:
- Recipient’s full name or business name
- Delivery address
- Eircode, if available
- Contact telephone number
Check all details before collection to help avoid delays.
6. Packing Heavy Items
Heavy items require suitable packaging and safe handling.
- Use strong boxes or appropriate containers.
- Keep the weight manageable.
- Secure loose parts.
- Inform RafixTrans about unusually heavy or bulky items before booking.
Do not pack items in a way that creates a risk of injury during loading or unloading.
7. Furniture and Large Items
For furniture and other large goods:
- Remove loose items where possible.
- Protect corners and delicate surfaces.
- Secure drawers and doors.
- Wrap items with suitable protective materials.
- Make sure the size and weight are confirmed before collection.
Customers should arrange suitable loading assistance if it has not been included in the booking.
8. Motorcycles, Scooters and Quads
Vehicles and equipment require suitable transport arrangements.
Before booking, provide the vehicle type, approximate dimensions, weight and collection location.
The vehicle must be prepared for safe loading and transport. Any special requirements should be discussed with RafixTrans in advance.
